Two live shows from international collective the Savage Sound System...

Edinburgh Videos on-line now.....

Live show featured tracks from Sacre Noir, MC Dandy and I vs. Nature, alongside sSs classics Opening Credits, Gimme The Bad News and The Penny Black Malady.

3rd May 2007

International collective the ‘savage sound system’ release their eagerly awaited debut EP on the 3rd of May 2007. Featuring vocalists Carrie McIntyre (Sacre Noir), Pete Duffy (Severeal), Keith Thomson (The Penny Black Remedy) and Matt Preston (I vs. Nature). Available from the savage recordings store and avalanche records, Edinburgh.

Keep an eye on the website for live dates (June-ish) featuring The Rebel MC and MC Dandy, Tom 'Cheeko' Wilkinson, Phil Lock and the usual sSs suspects.

So the wonderfully talented Xiangxing (HELEC) sent over a track called "My Painful Time" and requested vocals from my good self. You can hear the initial results on his MYSPACE page.
They're not as I want them quite yet, but the start has been made and the end will follow soon. There a various remixes of the tracks kicking about too and the end result will hopefully be a maxi-single released on dejine:rec featuring all the various artists versions / remix work, including one from the savage sound system(Edinburgh). Check out dejine-rec for the results and more info.

I love they way the HELEC crew go about their musical adventures - wav. files flying over the net all across the globe - Japan to Italy, Scotland and America - it's all amazing! Just how easy it all is to create an international collective of like-minded folk (well not too easy - there's obviously loads of work involved) and create great music together is the most beautiful thing about the web!
When the work is finished on 'My Painful Time" I'll put it onto the player...

Way back in November 06 I went on a little trip to Amsterdam and left some copies of both Sacre Noir demos in local record stores... low and behold they got reviewed here (in Dutch):

Click on October's link - I get the jist of the piece but if anyone can translate for me, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks Jan - nice work

24th April 2007

Okay - I've been very slack with updates etc... which is most strange as there has actually been loads of good stuff going on around the Sacre Noir camp of late.
So to start @ the start....
The following review appeared in the lastest issue of 'Is This Music?' (No 24)."
"A surprisingly high-quality demo from gothic electronica artist Sacre Noir shows that there's more to modern music than Jam rip-offs and tatty Converse. Mixing soaring vocals with some suitably atmospheric beats, it sounds much like Faithless might have done if they'd grown up as rabid Sisters Of Mercy fans. Strangely, it ends up sounding uncannily commercial nonetheless. A definite success, albeit a rather sinister one."

Thank-you ITM? for all your support and kind words.

The first dvd ZEROFEEDBACK VOL. 01 will be released in collaboration with the japanese record label Dejine:rec in the next month or so.

Thank-you to everyone @ dejine:rec (Xiangxing, h.honda, Toshee & Imako) you all work so hard and always turn out such amazing music & designs...keep on, keeping on.

I recently received a new remix of "Losing Control" from the 'Demo Recordings II' ep, from founding member of HELEC & Dejine:rec artist h.honda. The new 'clack' mix is so good I've put it straight onto the MYSPACE player for your listening pleasure.
Also, Japanese electronica, abstract,IDM,breakbeats & hiphop, label dejine:rec released on 15th November - "Dejine:rec compilation vol.1", 17 artists for a great compilation. Including "A Mescaline Monologue" from the second Sacre Noir ep - check it out @

Nursery of Naughtiness are a duo from the North of England. Gav Whyte and Alastair Dawson met in 2005 via their front man Tony C. After emailing one another tracks and ideas, they decided to gather all their work and form N.o.N. Having remixed one of the Guantanamo Bay tracks, they requested vocals for one of their own track. So via the power of e-mail came the collaboration that produced ‘The Deepest Place’ featured on their MYSPACE page….
Check it out!

21st March 2006

- recently played 'self assurance' from the 'demo recordings' ep.

10th March 2006

- Issue 19/20 - included the following review:
"Sacre Noir is more of a mini album from a one-woman band who aside from some quite dramatic vocals - similar in tone to Polly Harvey at times, but often so understated it's hard to fix on. The sound initially seems lo-fi and muffled but further listening hints at some complex layersmith some fairly straightforward acoustic guitar tunes embelished with multi-tracked ambient sounds. 'Control' is closest to pop while 'Never Before' is quite scary, Eartha Kitt trapped in a mineshaft with the Jesus and Mary Chain."
